About Ol Pajeta Conservancy

The Ol Pejeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters) is one of the top tourists’ attractions in Kenya and is located between Mt. Kenya and the foothills of the Aberdares. It’s a non-profit wildlife conservancy on a 360 km square or 90,000-acre piece of land dedicated purely to the conservation of endangered species. In a nutshell, Ol Pajeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters) works to conserve endangered wildlife species and generate income through wildlife tourism for investment in conservation efforts and community development or services. The park is a home to numerous wild animals that you can enjoy watching as well as the few surviving endangered species including; The black and white Rhino Conservancy.

    The truth is that there're very few black Rhino surviving on the face of the Earth, and Ol Pajeta Conservancy is the largest Black Rhino sanctuary. The conservancy also provides a rare opportunity to watch the few surviving White Rhinos on the entire globe. There is also Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary in the conservancy which is a haven for abandoned, rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. It’s the one of the few places not only in Kenya but also globally where these amazing apes are found. Visiting the conservancy provides a rare opportunity to watch the world-renowned big five wild animals. These are the Lions, Buffalos, Elephants, Leopard and the Rhinoceros. There is also a large selection of other African wild animals like the giraffe, wild dogs, Zebras, hippos among others making the conservancy a popular tourist destination. 


Day 1: Nairobi Transfer to Sweetwaters

4 Hours: Travel time to Sweetwaters

0700 Hours: Pick up from your Nairobi hotel and depart for Sweetwaters. Arrive at 1100 hrs at the park and have a short game drive as you head to the camp for lunch.

1400-1600 hours: Relaxation by the pool area

1600-1800 hours: Game drive


Overnight at the Sweetwaters Tented Camp

Meals: Lunch and Dinner


About Mount Kenya

Mt. Kenya National Park has numerous wild animals including the Hyenas, Lions, Buffalos, Elephants, Rhinos, Antelopes, Monkeys as well as tens of other African wild animals. The Mountain also has several vegetation bands from its foot to summit with the lower slopes covered mainly with Alpines. The park boasts of an immense scenic beauty including numerous waterfalls, rivers, breathtaking landscapes, cliffs, and slopes. The mountain is also home to hundreds of bird species including raptors, parrots, sun birds, augur, eagles and many more.

    With the park situated just on the mountain, there are several wild animals worth watching including Elephants, Lions, Buffalos, Rhinos and many more. It is usually interesting to watch one on one how animals like Lions hunt for their pray and at times deadly battles ensue to determine territorial male. Also, there is bird watching as well as numerous opportunities for photography. There are also hospitable, warm and welcoming local communities to interact with. Mount Kenya also provides an excellent opportunity to some magnificent views of its various parts with breathtaking cliffs, waterfalls, glaciers, so have your camera ready to roll as you climb or down the mountain.


Day 2: Sweetwaters Transfer to Mount Kenya

2 Hours: Travel time to Mount Kenya

0700 Hours: Depart for Tsavo West to arrive at mid-morning. Have a game drive as you head to the lodge or camp for lunch.

1400-1800 hours: Relaxation by the pool area

Overnight at the Mount Kenya Safari Club

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner


Day 3: Mount Kenya Full day 

Spend the whole day on leisure activities around the hotel.

Optional activities:  A visit to Mount Kenya Park & guided nature walks

Day 4: Mount Kenya Nairobi (Drop off)

0800 hours: Have breakfast and depart for Nairobi to arrive before lunch time. On arrival in Nairobi have lunch at Carnivore Restaurant and later be dropped off at a hotel of your choice or airport.
